AppHappy: Key Ring  #31WriteNow

Here is another edition of AppHappy where I squeed about apps that made my day.  The app I'm talking about today is Key Ring.

I have been using Key Ring for a very long time and surprised I haven't written about it yet.  When I first started using Key Ring, it could just scan and store your existing loyality cards.

Now, users can enroll in new loyalty programs and get exclusive coupons and discounts right in the app.   If you sign up for an online account, Key Ring can back up all of your loyalty cards on their website.

This app has save me on many occasions cause I always forget to carry my loyalty cards and I hate giving my number to look up my account at stores.   If you're are tired of carrying about all those cards, take Key Ring for a spin.

Key Ring is available on Blackberry, Android and iPhone.

Five Stages of CandyCrush Addiction #31WriteNow

I've been playing Candy Crush Saga for awhile and not going to stop anytime soon.  At first, I didn't see what was the big deal but should have taken heed to all the warnings.  Why didn't I stay away?!

Hi, my name is JP.  I'm addicted to playing Candy Crush.   Here are the stages I went through...

1. Anticipation:  When you first start playing, you can't wait to play.  You wake up grabbing your phone ready to tackle the next level.

2. Pleading: One word --> Chocolate.  There is nothing quite like being soooo close to passing a level & hoping... praying that one little stripe candy pushes you over the edge.  NOPE.  Doesn't happen cause an EVIL chocolate ate it.

You begin to trick other people into playing so they can send you lives & tickets.

3. Cheating:  Two Words --> Chocolates + Bombs

You become obsess with passing levels.  You try to hoard as many lives as possible by using loopholes in the system.  You even beg other players who pass the level to play for you.

4. Crushing Frustration:  Once again... this involves chocolate except... now there is a damn chocolate machine making your life miserable...  Yelling and screaming at the game doesn't seem to help you play any better but it keeps you from throwing phones.

5. Surrender:  You realize you're an addict and there's nothing you can do about it.   Some people get to this stage & able to stop playing never to download the app again... but they are few & far inbetween... So Candy Crushers, just know you are not alone!

AppHappy: Snapchat  #31WriteNow

Welcome to AppHappy where I squeed about apps that made my day.

Today, I'm talking about Snapchat. Snapchat allows you to send pictures but you can determine how long your recipients can view them before it's removed. You can draw on your pictures or give them captions. You can even send short videos. Snapchat even notifies you if the recipient of your message takes a screenshot.

I was a bit wary of using this app at first since it would be great for SUPRISE PENIS pictures. I haven't experience that yet but I've been very careful about who I follow and I don't allow everyone to send me snaps. I might get braver when I start using the app more but I'm having fun just sending silly pictures to my friends.

Do you use Snapchat? What do you think of it?

Google Music #31WriteNow

I know, I talk about Google a LOT.

And you're probably going to get really sick of me talk about which app on my Android phone is the "absolute best" really soon.

BUT!

Google Music is the absolute best.

I love all kinds of music. While I was growing up my parents used to play music and sing in the house all the time. While cleaning, while cooking, while working on the yard or the car, the best way to pass the time doing ANY work was to do so with music on.

My parents were huge fans of old school R&B music. My mom would listen to Aretha Franklin, The Supremes and the like, while my dad liked to mix it up and listened to Muddy Waters, Parliament Funkadelic and The Beatles. Because of this my music tastes vary, and even in the age of digital music sometimes it's hard to find all the songs I want to hear.

Enter Google Music.

I tried Spotify before, and I didn't dislike it, but it always ran slow on my computer and I wasn't opposed to paying the $10 for Spotify Premium, but I wasn't too fond of the fact that it would share all the music I listened to with my  Facebook "friends." Amazon is great for buying music, but there are times when I have more music I wanna listen to than money, so buying everything I'm interested in isn't the best idea. Also the Zune Pass? Even when that was around it was pretty pricey ($14.99 a month? What were the thinking?!).

Google Music launched this year at the right time and price, on $7.99 if you bought it during the first few months and $9.99 after that. I was lucky enough to get in on the $7.99 price and am pleased with my purchase. I've been able to find music from Nina Simone, Amplify Dot (my future wife) and even Noisettes! Also like with Spotify the app will let you pin music onto your phone or tablet so you don't need to used the internet to listen to them!

So if you get the chance, definitely check it out! I promise you'll like it!
