Sometimes I feel like event he writers of this season of True Blood have no idea what's going on. All the characters this season just don't feel right. Jason has gone from being dumb and misguided to being an all out bigot, Lafayette (probably the most loved character in the series) is suddenly a background character at best and a plot device at second best, and Terry (spoiler alert) is dead. For whatever reason the odd turns taken with these characters have got to fit into some greater scheme of things with this storyline, at least that's how I rationalize tings in my head. It's been said that the writer's are trying to tidy up the stories that need to be executed on the show. However this season also marked the addition of a few new characters that probably have no reason to be there.
Yes, this season we've been introduced to Niall the Fae King however briefly (and totally lacking in the Fae Wars but whatever), and also Warlow the mysterious baddie who's not really a baddie at all. There's also Willa the Baby Vamp and Jurnee Smollett's character who's name I couldn't tell you if you paid me, and of course the new pretty boy vampire James, who's gonna die.
From the moment James came on screen it was obvious that sooner or later he was a goner. We're immediately shown that he's a good guy because he refuses to sleep with Jessica for the entertainment of the humans. He's only in the episode for about 5 minutes and seems to obe a filler character who was most likely killed off screen until he showed up again last week and give hi Louis-the-Vampire-with-a-Soul-esque speech to Jess about whether or not vampires choose to be violent creatures. Whether you find him cute or annoying I'm just gonna call it for you guys right now; James is finna die.
Think about it, James is a new character who's story doesn't center on trying to sleep with everyone's least favorite faerie. He's not a villain, at least no yet, and he just made the mistake of sleeping with Jessica (because let's be real here, that's never gone well for anyone, just ask Hoyt). Any time a sympathetic male character comes along with no connection with Sookie, things don't end well. Just ask Ben, Hoyt, Jesus, Eggs.... you get the picture.
So everyone get ready to say goodbye to the new boy in Bon Temps. He'll most certainly be forgotten, just like all the others.
